#WorkoftheWeek: Judith Rothschild produced this painting in 1945 at her studio in West Twelfth Street in New York. She carefully and smoothly applied oil paint to the canvas to create a jigsaw-like field of interlocking shapes.
While the structure of the work can be characterised as geometric, many of its lines are curved and its shapes are unrecognisable. The introduction of colour at certain points in the painting provides it with an overall harmony and balance.
