A Happy New Year!
1月２日の快晴のホノルル市の映像です。年の初めの記事を、ホノルルでドリームホームを建てたいかもとお考えのかたのために、建設の際にかかる予算と時間についての参考資料を提供させていただくことにしました。
２０１７年前半の数字で恐縮ですが、一世代住宅建設の平均が１０スクエアフィートあたりつまり、０．９平米の面積で＄7,600で2位のシカゴ（＄4,200）やサンフランシスコ（＄4,000）を大きく引き離しています。これは２０１７年初頭の数字ですので、現在はもう少し上昇しているとおもわれます。さらに、海外からの輸入素材に大きな関税が今年は見込まれていますが、それがかけられるようになれば、さらなるコストの上昇になりそうですね。
また、昨年の１１月、ホノルル市が建設の認可のための期間が長すぎるということで、ビル６４を可決しました。これによって戸建て住宅のパーミットが６０日以内に通過するように義務付けられました。現在はパーミット（認可）が通るのに１年以上の時間がかかっているので、この法律でどのようにプロセスが変わっていくのか、今後の動向が注目されます。一方で、議会の証人として出頭した認可庁の責任者はこの法律で、戸建て住宅関連の認可は早くなっても他のカテゴリー（例えばコンドミニアム）の分野での認可作業に遅れが出る可能性を示唆したと伝えられています。

I would like to kick off the new year with a story of building home in Honolulu for the people with a new year resolution of home building in Honolulu.
It is known that cost of home in Honolulu is high and a duration of building home in Honolulu is long.

The high of $760 per square foot for single-family residential construction was nearly double the next city with the highest home-building costs, Chicago, where the high cost was $420 per square foot. Bill 64 passed on a 9-0 vote after testimony from contractors who said it’s been taking up to a year to get building permits approved, and that construction firms have had to lay off staff because they are unable to start work on projects. Kathy Sokugawa, DPP acting director, testified against the bill. Putting building permits for one category ahead of others means longer delays for those other projects – including high-rise condominiums.
