The World at Night project
Some images remain a photographer’s favorite for a long time, reliving good memories and unique feeling of the moment. This was a crystal-clear winter night 20 years ago in the Alamut Valley of Iran. The 2-hour exposure on Ektachrome slide film shows colorful star trails of constellation Orion with the orange Betelgeuse at top. The constantly rotating Earth causes sky motion which appears like this in a time-exposure image.
