Meantime at Lucky House... I promised I would share how to build a driftwood arch. Well, I had no idea it would be such a palaver! When I first built it, there was no bougainvillea, so I could do it alone or with Sanché to help lift the heavy branches. But now The bougainvillea was overgrown, and due the the heavy rainstorm the night I arrived, I found my arch in the morning crushed and destroyed from the weight of the huge fallen Bougainvillea! I had lovingly built that arch with pieces of driftwood I dragged home blood sweat (literally ) and now tears ( almost) So rebuilding the arch was a whole other process ...this time I needed “The Skytrak”and most of all my ace team, Kariyasa, Sanché, Shorty, Alex, Laughton, Atilla, and Robert, And it took all of their hard work to get this done! So thank you gentlemen all for coming to help me! The kids start coming home today and I wanted Lucky House to be ready for Christmas for them and while it’s not “perfected” it’s pretty perfect, and I do love a Work in Progress! So many possibilities! So I will keep you posted as I continue to drag home my chunks of driftwood and add the twists and turns that add to the arch’s sinewy beauty! ??????????Now Here’s What you’ll need To Build Your Own Arch ; 1.Collect your driftwood carefully , NEVER take the roots from the soil they are holding the coastline together from erosion . It must be adrift! 2.I use what I call a “lock in method” Certain heavy pieces provide the foundation , others are secured then you can start to lock in branches one end goes over and the other end goes under a branch . When a branch is properly locked in you can feel it’s solid. Then as an extra layer of security I add fishing line covered with a touch of hemp rope ( and hidden by another branch if possible) and that is all you will need . My first arch lasted 14 years with out incident, just make sure you follow step number three... 3. Keep your bougainvillea trimmed so it does not overwhelm your bough! And hopefully you won’t need a skytrak! May you have many years of happiness under your flowering arch ! Hurry Home Children I’m Ready For You! ??❤️ #christiecraft #artsandchristiecrafts
