Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham (@aaronwheelz) always thinks of himself as being “on a wheelchair” rather than “in a wheelchair.” “I think when you say you’re in a wheelchair, it’s like you’re confined to it,” explains the 27-year-old professional #WCMX (wheelchair motocross) rider. “And to me, I feel like I’m riding on a wheelchair like a BMXer is on a bike or a skater is on a skateboard. I’m not confined to it. I’m just kind of having fun with it.”
Today, Aaron, who was born with spina bifida, says the best part of WCMX is “traveling the world doing what I love, and at the same time, helping people view their challenges from a new perspective.”
