#Bestof2018 With 24 solid hours of auctions, 10 auctioneers and every single one of the 975 lots sold, Pierre Bergé's visionary collection achieved a white glove sale this autumn in Paris. A man of the arts, he amassed, over more than fifty years, everything from Antiquity to Modern art, including 16th and 17th century vanitas, orientalist paintings and antique furniture in addition to Islamic, African and Asian art. The auction, in association Pierre Bergé & Associés, totalled €27.5 million, against an estimate of €4.7-7.2 million – the highest total for any sale of house contents at Sotheby’s France.
