"Yellow Vest” protests have flooded the streets of France.

Full-scale riots erupted in Paris with cars being torched, stores being looted, and multiple injuries to both protestors and police.

The protests are essentially about recent tax hikes on fuel (gasoline and diesel) as part of the government’s proposed carbon tax designed to improve environmental conditions. However, the outcry has morphed into a much wider discontent of the high cost of living in France, including the dissatisfaction with President Macron. Some images show anti-Macron slogans smeared on one of Paris’ most famous landmarks — the Arc de Triomphe.
