okay one more throwback to malibu, I promise!! ??just haven't been focusing too much on content this past week. too many anxiety attacks that I couldn't ignore ⠀ my breathing gets really shallow during this time. every breath I take feels like i'm suffocating. it's like I'm out of oxygen, yet surrounded in its abundance. ⠀ it's really annoying, but the silver-lining is that I can identify when my anxiety is at a high when this starts to happen. my self-awareness isn't always great, especially when life gets busy, but when my breathing pattern starts to change/shorten/demand effort, I'm forced to take a step back. ⠀ I'm forced to face the reasoning behind the anxiety, and when I do this habitually, I start to see improvements in my breathing. ⠀ one way I like to "face" anxiety is by writing everything that's on my mind (I like to type on a computer since my brain goes at 10000 miles per second). I write everything I'm currently thinking, treating the exercise like I'm transcribing my raw and unfiltered thoughts. I usually ALWAYS find clarity after writing. ⠀ afterwards, I like doing something outside of my head - this is where training and therapy become one for me. I'll train with clarity and intention - pushing weights to make me stronger, empowered, and more alive. ⠀ workouts that have been primed with mindfulness (e.g. writing in my case) make me feel more 'in sync' with my mind and body, which is a huge suppressant to the anxiety I face. ⠀ again, not sure if anyone will resonate! but hopefully it will help some. i'd love to hear what strategies you have adopted to help in overcoming anxiety! #anxietyisannoying #butluckilywerestrongenoughtoovercomeit #beautyinstrength #fightforgrowth

my breathing gets really shallow during this time. every breath I take feels like i'm suffocating. it's like I'm out of oxygen, yet surrounded in its abundance.

it's really annoying, but the silver-lining is that I can identify when my anxiety is at a high when this starts to happen. my self-awareness isn't always great, especially when life gets busy, but when my breathing pattern starts to change/shorten/demand effort, I'm forced to take a step back.

I'm forced to face the reasoning behind the anxiety, and when I do this habitually, I start to see improvements in my breathing.
