The Duchess of Cornwall today visited St Therese’s School in Banjul and met young girls who had entered the Commonwealth Essay Prize competition. Her Royal Highness heard one of the girl’s essays, opened the new school library and saw a performance from Grade 9 children from the "Tuseme Club", developed through a writing course.
HRH attended a Commonwealth Big Lunch and met people from around The Gambia, including young female entrepreneurs. At the lunch she presented a “Points of Light Award” to Omar Badjie in recognition of his voluntary service.
These awards have been made by The Queen, as Head of the Commonwealth, to thank inspirational volunteers across the 53 Commonwealth Nations for the difference they are making in their communities.
