#WorkoftheWeek: 'Ankledeep' by Lubaina Himid was completed in 1991 in Preston, where the artist lives and works. It is part of a series entitled 'Revenge: A Masque in Five Tableaux'. Art historian Dorothy Rowe reflected on the idea of revenge in the painting, commenting that ‘two black women seek their revenge from the fabric of history.'

#LubainaHimid was one of the first artists involved in the UK's Black Art movement in the 1980s and was the winner of the 2017 #TurnerPrize.
