Eriogonum wrightii is perhaps a little more subtle in show than we are used to this time of year, but sweet nonetheless. This modest bastard sage’s pastel-peach flowers really pop against the windowpane backdrop of our Alpine House in the Horticultural Operations Center, where some plants—this one included—will ultimately make their way out onto Garden grounds. Native primarily to the SW United States and NW Mexico, this little shrub is a staple in the California chaparral—or shrubland—ecoregion. #whatsbeautifulnow #behindthescenes
