The Meguro Residence, an Important Cultural Property in Uonuma city, Niigata Prefecture.
The Meguro Residence was the home of a Shoya, or village headman. Built for a wealthy farmer, its structure is that of a medieval samurai estate.
The Irori (hearth) burns constantly all the year round.

Japanese beauty, a chance encounter, nostalgia. I cannot ignore the instinct to point a camera at the hearth for some reason.
