Last week one of the lovely guests on my @newhorizonescapes retreat asked me how many times a day I train ?? A perfectly valid and reasonable question, but also one which comes with expectations that worry me; expectations that I would train more than once a day. I just want to set the record straight and hopefully provide some reassurance. I personally train anything from 3-6 days a week, usually around 4-5 times. On these days I do one workout and each workout is usually 20-45 minutes. This is more than enough training to allow me to be fit, healthy and strong. I have a minimum of 1 rest day a week but 90% of the time I have 2-3 rest days. I don’t fear rest. In fact my body thrives when I rest adequately, giving my muscles time to repair and allowing me to have more energy for when I do workout ? I view exercise as a way to look after my body, a form of self-care which I enjoy. It isn’t to earn food, burn it off or ease any guilt. It is purely because it’s a part of my life that I love ? So please, don’t buy into the “no days off” approach. Please don’t think that in order to be fit you have to train more than once a day, every single day. Please don’t think you need to earn your food, earn your rest or burn off calories. Please don’t think fitness is something which has to take over your life, it can just be part of your life. If you ever find yourself in the “earn and burn” mindset or feeling guilty for resting then take a moment to notice this and perhaps talk to someone who can help ??? #workout #training #balance #girlgains #thesculptguide #gymgirls #balance
