As boomers age, an alarming trend has emerged: they're entering their golden years with mortgage debt.
Americans over the age of 60 were more than three times as likely to carry mortgage debt in 2015 compared to 1980, according to an analysis of Census data.
Much of the increase in seniors' mortgage borrowing is in households with below-median incomes and assets, and no pensions, the analysis found.
