Meet our new friend @whocefcat ?! Whocef lives with his new family Halima, her husband Imam Hussain, and their five children in a Rohingya refugee camp in #Bangladesh where pets are a rarity – making Whocef all the more loved. “The cat brings joy to our lives,” says Halima. “My husband lost his leg after he was shot by the army when we fled Burma a year ago, and it is a struggle to survive here… But we love Whocef because he is adored by my children and catches rats which are a big problem in our shelter at nighttime.” This life-changing #cat got the first part of his name from the World Health Organization and the second part from UNICEF thanks to our colleagues on the ground - WHO-CEF :D. Getting enough food in the camps is always a problem for many refugee families but Imam and Halima always put a little aside for Whocef, who likes to sleep with the couple’s seven-year-old son Ridwan who attends a UNICEF-supported learning centre. “Whocef likes to roam around the camps during the day and we are worried he won’t return at night time,” says Halima. “But he always does. We’d be lost without him.”
