Failures. Everyone has heard all kinds of quotes about failing and not giving up. Always to persevere and finish what you started. Most of these quotes are sports and team related. Not many people talk about failing when it’s just you alone in the shop. No words are spoken. Just the internal feelings of you “cant” or you will never be good enough. It could be the lack of tools or your inexperience. I’ve found that 99.9999% of the time it’s my own laziness that causes things to go sideways. When I started a project I decided to let one little thing slide by and it snow balls into something that now does not work. Being lazy or cutting corners will always come back to bite you in the ass. This isn’t about working in the shop. This key personal integrity can be applied to most aspects of life. Kind of like washing your hands after you use the restroom. We all know we should, but sometimes we don’t. Then you get the flu and wonder why that happens to you. Especially under a deadline it takes a lot of internal strength to stop immediately when something isn’t right. Start it over and make it right. The only way to build up this kind of strength is to go ahead and do it wrong, when you know it’s wrong. Waste all that time and effort only to fail. Then go through the pain of doing it over. Only then will you listen to the voice in your head and heart to stop and do it again. Learning that the “easy way” was doing it 100% right from beginning to end. #jessejames
