MEET HENRY! “I teach high school literature at a Title 1 school with incredible students and remarkable needs. I’ve developed a Pen Pal program between my students and the adults here in the LA community, and I’m striving to better integrate my kids’ presence/stories in a neighborhood that often feels entrenched in expensive, trendy culture.
Our class sizes are enormous (nearly 50 in many classes), so it’s not possible to get students their own supplies with my money. Buying books and supplies for my room means bolstering true community in the city.
