I was 10. I had just started the 6th grade at a new school in Times Square. I lived downtown. I waited. Terrified. My mother strapped my razor scooter to her back and rode my brother’s 7 avenues & 41 blocks north to pick me up. We passed the barricades on 14th street to make our way home. Home was not that far away from that day. 17 years later I still can see the ash. The smoke. The people walking north covered in soot. The smell of death and fear. I will #neverforget 9/11. The world will #neverforget. My heart is at home with my fellow New Yorkers, with the families affected, and the victims of what occurred 17 years ago.
