Sandy (@sandymaxxine) lives in East Los Angeles in the heart of gang territory. She has visited her brother, Marco, every Sunday since a rival gang killed him in 2016. Sandy wrote, “My brother’s death has changed my life forever. Sitting at the cemetery every Sunday brings me peace and sanity. His presence is missed in every aspect of life, especially his smile and his hugs.

Sandy is attending Cal State LA where she is studying criminal justice. Operation Street Kidz (@operationstreetkidz) has mentored Sandy for 11 years.
