Black Honey have been making waves in the industry since 2015. Delighting music- and movie- lovers with a rainbow of retro pop culture references and irresistibly slick hits: their sound spans unadulterated sunshine to utterly sultry lullabies. But 2018 is proving to be the biggest year to date, as the Brighton quartet are three singles into the gear up for their debut album, Black Honey. Set to be released at the end of September, from what we have seen so far we couldn't be more excited. The band have added another twenty facets to the- already blinding- Disco ball, figuratively and literally. Truly armed with an artillery of tricks and treats from pop's most opulent moments, the band have audibly and visually manifested something newly addictive.
When talking about Black Honey, it would be a shame to not mention the videos. Leading the way in bewitching mini-movies, this years releases have gone beyond expectation. ‘Bad Friends’ is a brilliantly dark anti-pop hit, accompanied by a video, delightfully starring another of Underground’s favourite bands, @novatwinsmusic. ‘Midnight’ is the Saturday-Night-Fevered twist in the tale of their road to stardom, and sees the band hit the dance floor in a Disco Glitter, Glamour Rock fantasy. ‘I Only Hurt the Ones I Love’ is a desert bound, spaghetti western trip: an excellent ode to Morricone.
Catch Black Honey on tour around the UK, as they hit up the best Record Shops across the country for signings, acoustics and more. Time spent checking their roster of videos to date is time well-spent. Trust us.
