President Trump’s former personal lawyer made the extraordinary admission in court yesterday that @ドナルド・トランプ directed him to pay 2 women hush money in 2016 “for the principal purpose of influencing the election.” The plea represented a pivotal moment in the investigation into the president. Michael Cohen told a judge that the payments to the women — Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal — were made “in coordination with and at the direction of a candidate for federal office,” implicating the president in a federal crime. He described in plain-spoken language how @ドナルド・トランプ worked with him to cover up a potential sex scandal. #MichaelCohen, once a loyal ally to the president, pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance laws and multiple counts of tax evasion and bank fraud. The plea came shortly before another blow to the president: His former campaign manager, #PaulManafort, was convicted in his financial fraud trial. He faces a second trial next month on charges of obstruction of justice and failure to register as a foreign agent. Both of the cases could add momentum to the Russia investigation by the special counsel, Robert Mueller. @andreskudacki took this photo of Michael Cohen, which appears on today’s front page.
