Della Robbia's The Resurrection of Christ was the first Italian Renaissance work to enter the Brooklyn Museum’s collection in 1898. A. Augustus Healy, then President of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences, purchased the sculpture directly from the Antinori family at their Tuscan villa and later donated it to the Museum. Now, after a major conservation project that was generously supported by the same family whose ancestors commissioned the Resurrection almost 500 years ago, we celebrate its return to prominent display in Brooklyn.
