Photo by @FransLanting One memorable evening I waded into a water hole in Botswana to capture a perfect reflection of a gathering of elephants at twilight with a rising full moon suspended in a luminous pink evening sky. The image has become a symbol for the primeval qualities of Botswana’s wilderness and the grandeur of elephants. I share it in recognition of World Elephant Day, August 12, to celebrate the majesty of elephants and to draw attention to the organizations that have forged a strong coalition aimed at reversing the poaching crisis that has decimated elephant populations almost everywhere.
