#Repost @skygellatly with @get_repost ・・・ SANS TITRE, a new artist-first retail concept developed by ICNCLST will launch tomorrow, Sunday, July 29 at 1PM. The address: 107 North 3rd St, Brooklyn NY 11249. For our opening, will be selling original prints, drawings, and other objects and ephemera by Futura (including an extra-rare archival print re-release), Stash, 13thWitness, and Baron Von Fancy. Come and meet the artists, have works personalized on-site, and talk creativity with us all. But right now you might be thinking, why the title Sans Titre—what does that mean? So here goes an explanation from a few angles... "Sans Titre" means “untitled” in French—it is most-often denoted as the title of an artwork that lacks naming/title attribution. Very often, artworks do not have titles. Check any art auction website, and you will discover that the most-used title for artwork on the planet—is actually the lack of a title all together: untitled or sans titre. On the one hand, some artworks are not formally codified/serialized with names by artists, and intentionally so; some artworks, as we all know, are more so “freestyle verses” or gestures vs. formal “album tracks.” But both are “songs”, right? In other instances of course, the title of a work can get lost in the many informal transfers in ownership, from one collector to the next. Ultimately, the concept of Sans Titre implies that our platform is always open for redefinition, reinterpretation, and that it too is never done. Creativity has no start and stop, and the brief from us is always open and welcoming: create and share. Sans Titre will be defined, and re-defined by the artists who leverage our platform. Here’s to a future of innovative re-contextualization and creation: first as a physical store, and soon with an accompanying digital sales platform—built in formal partnership with Shopify and Frenzy.
