During a speech last week, Mr. Ortega said the bishops were allied with opponents seeking a violent coup.⠀ ⠀ On Friday, the Church of Divine Mercy was packed with worshipers, most of them middle-class Nicaraguans. In the overflow crowd outside, a driver said he was there to show his solidarity with the church and the bishops. "We are here to back the bishops," he said.
