Photo by @Tim Laman. I’m excited to be back in the forests and mountains of Papua, Indonesia, where vast tracks of rain forest like this still remain. I’m here to document the biodiversity and spread awareness about this important region. This mountain valley is on the way up to Lake Habbema in #LorenzNationalPark. Indonesia’s far eastern provinces of Papua and West Papua (once called Irian Jaya) on the big island of New Guinea are still covered by more than 90% forest, and this is the third largest tract of tropical forest remaining in the world after the Amazon and Congo and critically important as the “lungs of the planet”.
