There are some places in the world it still takes a long time to get to. 59 hours of flying and airport layovers after leaving home near Boston, and I finally touched down in Sentani airport in Papua, Indonesia… and that’s the fastest connection there is to get here. And I still have a short domestic flight and then 4WD journey to get to my field location. But it’s worth it. For the last hour plus of the flight, we traversed the entire Indonesian half of this great island of New Guinea, with its vast rain forests, mountains, and little sign of man’s impact. One of the biggest remaining blocks of rain forest in the world, and so much to explore….. iPhone photo out the plane window. #Papua, #Indonesia, #NewGuinea, #rainforest
