A Living Legacy: this November in #London we will offer at auction #Irish art from the collection of Brian P. Burns, the prominent business attorney, entrepreneur and philanthropist, recognised in 2000 as one of the top 100 Irish Americans of the 20th century. A formidable lifetime achievement, the Brian P. Burns Collection of Irish Art pays tribute to Mr Burns’ Irish heritage and stands as a remarkable personal response to a challenge he made over 40 years ago to inform the American Irish diaspora about the beauty and the visual tapestry that Irish art has bequeathed the world. A preview exhibition of highlights opens today at Sotheby’s in #Chicago (on view until 15 June), followed by a showing in #Boston at the Boston College Conference Center from 19-20 June, ahead of exhibitions in #Dublin in late summer and in #NewYork in the autumn. 100 works from the collection will then come under the hammer on 21 November. The roll-call of artists is panoramic in scope and features Jack B. Yeats, Roderic O’Conor, Sir John Lavery, Sir William Orpen, Water Osborne, William Leech, Nathaniel Hone, James Brenan, and Rowan Gillespie, to name a few. ? here is 'A Misty Morning' by Jack B.
