콩고민주공화국 카사이 지방의 16살 알버틴은 유니세프가 후원하는 소년병 출신 어린이를 위한 사회통합 센터에서 삽니다. 카사이 지방에서 일어난 끔찍한 분쟁은 어린이를 전장의 전면에 세웠고, 견디기에 버거운 폭력을 가했습니다. 어린이들은 전장에서 군사세력에 의해 사람을 죽이고 싸우는 인간 방패로 사용되었습니다.
소년병에서 해방된 알버틴은 사회통합 센터에서 상대방을 존중하여 예의 바르게 행동하는 법과 다음 세대 어린이를 어떻게 지키고 도와줘야 하는지 배웁니다.

Democratic Republic of the Congo, 2018: Albertine, 16, currently lives at a UNICEF-supported reintegration centre for children formerly associated with armed groups, in the Kasaï region – where violent conflict has put children on the frontline. The fighting has inflicted a heavy toll on children, who are being used by militias to fight and kill, and as human shields. “We learn here to be polite, to respect each other and also how to protect and raise our future children,” Albertine says.
