I’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately-
spending time alone in my own head while surrounded by droves of other travelers.

In the wake of the recent and highly publicized suicides, I can’t help but walk through the terminal this morning searching the other travelers’ eyes.
Who needs to be checked in with?
Who needs a smile, a touch, the simple intimacy of eye contact?

I sit and watch the janitors, pushing their carts, and picking up trash as they go.
Does anyone ever acknowledge them?
How many of us are walking around, surrounded by people, yet still feel so alone inside?

Take time each day to step outside of the confines of your own life check in with the people around you.
A little bit of compassion can go a long way; and with all of the recent tragedies that have transpired, it’s clear that we are all in need of some.
