Nous profitons de l’exposition #PastelsduLouvre qui a ouvert au public hier, pour présenter ce portrait souriant de Madame Barbier-Walbonne par l’artiste Aleksander Kucharski.

Ce pastel, présentant un jeu admirable sur les textures, atteste du talent d’Aleksander Kucharski. Le voile de gaze qui recouvre la poitrine de la jeune femme ainsi que les volants de dentelles permettent à l’artiste de réaliser des effets de transparence magistraux.  Il privilégie également un fond gris pour renforcer ces effets et harmoniser la gamme chromatique du tableau. La précision avec laquelle les habits de la modèle sont représentés, notamment la robe de linon et le chapeau, ont permis de dater cette œuvre entre 1808 et 1810.

On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition #PastelsduLouvre, we chose to present you this smiling portrait of Madame Barbier-Walbonne by Aleksander Kucharski.

This pastel, depicting a remarkable play with textures, shows Aleksander Kucharski's talent. The gauze veil covering the young woman's chest and the lace ruffles allow the artist to achieve magisterial transparency effects. He also favours a grey background to reinforce these effects and harmonize the chromatic range of the painting. The precision with which the clothes of the model are represented, especially the linen dress and the hat, made it possible to date this work between 1808 and 1810.
