Today we introduce @rosa_polin ✨Rosa Polin presents a selection of images from the series “Twins Day Festival” - These photographs were taken in Twinsburg, Ohio at the annual Twins Day Festival in the summer of 2017. Like Mary Ellen Mark, I’ve always been compelled by twins. When I had the opportunity to follow in her footsteps and shoot the same festival that she had for her own book Twins, I was excited and intimidated.
I went alone with my little digital camera and walked through the grounds amongst hoards of apparent clones. The shock of seeing so many sets of identical people in identical outfits faded faster than would be expected. The task became to identify pairs who stood out and to get as many of them to collaborate with me on a portrait as possible.
Everyone I spoke to was more than proud to be a twin- their entire concept of who they were depended on their sibling. I began to feel strange walking around alone with no doppelganger alongside me- as if there was something I was missing.” #rosapolin✨#milanophotoweek
