Electro duo Ectomorph was reborn in Ann Arbor in 1997 when founding member Brendan Gillen gifted his Roland TR-606 Drumatix to Erika. Since 1993, Gillen had used it to write patterns while traveling so that he could learn the machine, something he must have hoped would help him understand the techno records of revered artists like Derrick May.
