Coming back to South Philly for photographer @quillemons was about more than revisiting “old stomping grounds,” which he says are swiftly transforming into the beer gardens of gentrification. It was a chance to document the tight-knit group of women who’ve kept him grounded. “My mom was 14 and a half when she had me,” Lemons says, explaining how she went on to get a master’s degree. “I don't think that would have been possible without the support of her mother and my great-grandmother, just being like, ‘You can do this.’ I grew up with some really strong women—really bold and stubborn!” Tap the link in our bio to see his photos.
