Neighbors in Ferești village help each other turn and dry their hay in the busy months of haymaking season. Work is shared, but each patch of hay meadow is individually owned and its boundaries carefully marked. Hayforks, made of hazelwood, the tines often polished by years of use, are handed down as heirlooms in Maramures, Romania.
