Catches are declining as too many net fishing motor boats chase too few fish near the shore of Lake Tanganyika. Some fishermen use sail boats to access the center of the Lake where there is less competition but also fewer fish, though they tend to be larger in size. Bordered by Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, and Zambia, the lake is the second oldest, largest and deepest freshwater lake in the world.
