Hey guys happy Sunday! By now you probably know that every Sunday I donate my social media to my @YearsofLiving team to talk about carbon pricing! Please take a second to read these posts and get involved!!! Below is a post from Karl Meakin, a student at Northeastern University. “As someone who grew up hiking and kayaking, I was initially terrified of climate change because of its potential to destroy the places I love. Sea level rise, loss of biodiversity, and weather and temperature extremes are all existential threats to the natural world that I love. More concerning than these ecological disasters is the threat that climate change poses to low-income communities and communities of color. Groups that already face systemic discrimination are more likely than privileged communities to face the most extreme effects of climate change. Unless we work towards a climate solution that is justice-based and equity-driven, climate change will devastate our world and exacerbate existing inequalities. This pressing need is why I advocate for carbon pricing. If implemented through a fee-and-rebate system, carbon pricing is an incredibly effective way to stabilize the effects of climate change. It also serves to return revenue to the communities and people that are most vulnerable to climate change. Through youth advocacy and lobbying for carbon pricing, we can ensure that the future is more equitable and sustainable.”
