#DoxThrash, who was #bornonthisday in 1893, is best known for his innovative printmaking technique and bold portraits of African Americans, but he was also a gifted painter. “Demolition” depicts an abstracted scene from a changing neighborhood not unfamiliar to today’s Philadelphians—old rowhomes coming down, a skyline rising in the distance, and the skilled workmen caught between the forces of development.
