Looking out from Kuélap, a pre-Incan settlement built by the “Cloud Warrior” people of the northern Andes. The walled city, home to hundreds of circular homes and ceremonial buildings, sits in a cloud forest about 10,000 feet above sea level, a short distance from Chachapoyas, Peru. To get there, @nytimestravel’s world traveler, @alphajada, took a 20-minute ride on a cable car that opened just last year. A journey that once took 4 hours on foot or 90 minutes by car now takes about 20 minutes — and provides stunning views. Some call #Kulap the Machu Picchu of the north. But locals say tourism is starting to change the area. @alphajada took this photo yesterday in #Peru.
