以前、女性を交えて、一緒にフィレンツェの肉料理を食べはじめたときに……。フランコ・ミヌッチさんは、今まで締めていたネクタイをはずし、急に上着の胸ポケットに３つに折り畳んでしまったのです。それが、まるでポケットチーフを入れたように華やかに見え、あまりに自然に、さり気なく格好良かったので、「どうしてしまったんですか？」「どうやって入れたんですか？」と聞いたんです。そしたら、ミヌッチさんはこんな風に答えてくれたのです。「ネクタイを締めていたら、一緒に女性がリラックスして、くつろげないだろう？ 干場さんもはずしちゃいなさい（笑）」と……。さらに、付け加えて「ネクタイの胸ポケットに入れる畳み方なんて、適当でいいんだよ、適当で。“いい加減が良い加減”なのさ」と……。ミヌッチさん曰く、イタリア語で「エレガンテ」、つまりエレガントというのは「ナチュラーレ」なんだそうです。ナチュラーレ、つまり自然体であるということ。ネクタイの仕草ひとつで、人を思いやる彼の優しさ哲学にも触れることが出来たのです。そんなフランコ・ミヌッチさんも、イタリアのお父さんのような存在です。先日も、ピッティでお会い出来て本当に嬉しかったです。
