View of Olivia River. It crosses the wide Carbajal Valley, a space covered with peat bogs between two chains of the Andes, forming meanders and maintaining an east-Southeast direction. The function of the peatlands benefit the city Ushuaia because they ensure that potable water is available during dry seasons, they regulate water runoff from the mountains around and reduce the possibility of flooding by dampening the riverbeds.
