I’m really confused about something and maybe you can help me understand.
One of my supporters sent me a note about an idea to reach out a declawing vet in their town, at an AAHA and AAFP Gold Standard Cat Friendly hospital in SC. The idea was to inspire this vet to become a no-declaw Cat Friendly practice and to have her husband, who was just elected to the City Council, to introduce a bill to ban declawing like Denver just did. ???
So my mom respectfully sent this vet a private email and asked her those things.
This vet replied and seriously you just couldn’t make these things up.?
The AAHA and Cat Friendly vet wrote my mom back and actually said, “If you do truthful research, you will find that we are the profession who suffers the highest rate of suicide.”
This vet also said in regards to declawing cats,”I hope that you will also recognize that occasionally it is truly necessary to keep a family happy with their cat. In life there are no absolutes.”
And she said she would never force a political agenda concerning her profession upon her husband.?
So much for trying to privately and respectfully inspire a declawing vet to do the right thing. ? I wonder if someone had a dog that was chewing up all the items in their house, & they went to this vet and said they are going to take this dog to the shelter and have it euthanized if this vet doesn’t pull its teeth. Would this vet do that just to keep the owner happy? I don’t think so, so why do they make excuses about declawing cats? And why do so many declawing vets bring up the suicide issue when you bring up declawing to them??? ??? I will be doing a story about this soon. #staytuned #pawsneedclaws #vetmed
