There has been much hysteria in the mainstream media about the eruption of Mount Agung. 5 villages were evacuated from the immediate 10 kilometer perimeter of the volcano and thankfully no lives were lost during the small eruptions. The vast majority of the 4.4 million people on Bali are safe as are the many cities, beaches and tourist areas on the island. Unfortunately due to fear about the eruptions, Bali has seen a decrease in foreign travelers by as much as 80% and this has caused much economic strain to communities that are already impoverished to begin with and depend on tourism to survive. I’d like to invite anyone visiting Bali to come to my Jan 12th concert at the Green School benefiting the school itself and @BumiSehat natural birthing center which has taken in hundreds of evacuees from the volcano. It’s gonna be an all day dance party with tons of great bands and food. If you can’t make it to the concert, the best way to support Balinese people right now is to come to the island, experience it’s magic and beauty while supporting the jobs of the local community.
