My oldest son playing the saxophone in his first recital tonight??? Such a proud Mom moment.

It’s hard to believe next month he will be 12? I remember carrying him in the snow to catch buses when we lived in Seattle, eating top ramen for dinner because that’s all we could afford (& I still eat it??‍♀️) & so many other memories that at the time, made it so hard to see the bright side. As parents, we strive to give our kids the lives we didn’t have, or at least to give them a great life. It’s a constant balance of love, & also gentle reminders that there are so many others that aren’t as fortunate as him & to be grateful. Plus, I’m not trying to bust my ass for him to not appreciate it all... maybe that’s why my mom was always so mad at me? ???‍♀️ Most days I don’t know what I’m doing, but ya know, I’m doing my best. My son wants to learn ‘Careless Whisper’ on his saxophone next, so I guess I’m doing alright ?? #momlife ? @nickhollidayco
