It stands alone as America’s last truly great wilderness. Situated in the northeastern corner of Alaska, it is America’s largest wildlife refuge and home to an abundance of wildlife from polar bears to grizzlies, wolves and over 200 000 caribou. During my expeditions, I felt like a time traveller experiencing a landscape predating settlement of the West. This week Congress is about to vote on the GOP tax bill, that includes oil drilling in the Arctic Refuge. Swipe right to see how the adjacent Prudhoe Bay oilfield impacts the landscape.
