We celebrate the opening of the Monir Museum in Tehran—the first museum in Iran dedicated to a solo female artist. Housed in a magnificent 19th-century building in the Negarestan Museum Park gardens, the Monir Museum includes more than 50 works of art spanning six decades and inspired by Persian architectural tradition, the mathematical and geometric roots of Islamic pattern, and Sufi cosmology. In 2015, the Guggenheim presented Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian's first comprehensive U.S. exhibition, "Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian: Infinite Possibility.
