‘Many people say that my method is repetitive and painstaking… I don’t even question it. I find the repetition very meditative’
Artist Junko Mori uses traditional Japanese metalworking techniques to create her sculptural forms. She initially worked as a welding assistant in a steel factory, and when she moved to the UK in 1998, she enrolled in a silversmithing and metalworking degree at Camberwell College of Art. Now based in the Llyn Peninsula, Wales, she takes inspiration from nature to turn metal into objects that have an organic feel.
You can find out more about her process in our new video – follow the link in our bio to watch it in full.
Propagation Project; Ring of Small Petals by Junko Mori, 2014. This film series has been produced with the support of JTI.
