Photograph by David Chancellor @chancellordavid - the scent of the ballochbuie forest, braemar, scotland - Ballochbuie Forest is one of the largest remaining areas of old Caledonian pine growth in Scotland, consisting of approximately 3,000 acres, it is managed with only minimal or no intervention. Bird species inhabiting the surrounding moorlands include red grouse, black grouse, ptarmigan, and the capercaillie. Principal mammal being the red deer. It's a very very special place; Let’s not forget that without viable landscapes, we have no hope of supporting all manner of species.
