Memphis is known not just for its barbecue, but it's history. There are so many incredible museums and historic sites to visit including, Sun Studio, @staxmuseum, @visitgraceland, @slavehavenmuseum, and @memphisrocknsoulmuseum to name just a few. My absolute favorite is by far the National Civil Rights Museum @ncrmuseum. It's located in downtown Memphis at the Lorraine Hotel, assassination site of Martin Luther King, Jr. Experiencing this museum changed my life. You are there. You are in it. You can feel the emotion and weight that this time period held. You can literally walk up to the door of the hotel room MLK stayed in and see exactly what the space looked like on the day he was assassinated. It is an incredibly moving tribute to MLK and the Civil Rights Movement. Don't go to Memphis without experiencing it! A block over from the museum is South Main St. which has great spots to eat and shop around. Catch a trolley ride and hit up Memphis' oldest cafe @arcaderestaurant, a new local shopping hot spot @stockandbelle, or if it's later in the day grab a famous soul burger from one of the best dive's in town, Ernestine & Hazel's.
