Monday morning, uptown in the waiting room of my therapist’s office..Because you know, emotions &, feelings, & urgh…? . I’ve been in therapy on & off, for the past 18 months – it is something that I wish I had started earlier but had felt for a long time that it was a taboo topic. While I share ALL my emotional shit with my BFFs (I know, lucky them, right!?) There is value in nutting out some things that are going on in your mind (or heart,or soul) with someone who is not emotionally invested in you(e.g.Your Best Friends + family),because often removing emotion from an issue, can allow you to see it a lot clearer, & as such deal with it with more calmness & clarity. . I am posting this because I wish I didn’t feel a few years ago that therapy was a taboo topic. If you have something going on in your world, that you need help working thru,I cannot recommend it enough.I also understand if therapy is a taboo topic to you (It was to me, for a very long time). If you're not sure where to even find a therapist, asking your local GP is a great place to start as they can often recommend someone they trust in the field (In Australia, some therapists are covered by Medicare. In the USA,check your insurance for a list of offices that are under your cover). You might even have to try a few different therapists until you find one you click with – that’s ok too. It a process, some days you will walk out feeling much lighter then when you walked in, other times you will feel like you should send them a bunch of flowers for flooding their office with tears, & unruly crying snot. (Don’t worry – they always have a crazier patient than you.Promise.) . If you are currently in this process, or are thinking about entering into a journey with this type of self learning & reflection - I hope your therapist’s waiting room has some mini bonsai trees in it, like mine does. Because you know, bonsai, its fucking calming ;) ? . Sending you love - SWx . In the comments below,I have posted two descriptions that I found really clarifying from my therapist –I wanted to share them in case they bring you a little bit of clarity on something you or a loved one, may be feeling.
